Vancouver Blues Around Town Presents Steve Hill & Special Guest Matt Hoyles.
---------------------
“The one-man band style has made Steve Hill the top star in the Canadian blues scene right now,” says Bob Mersereau of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

When it comes to one-man bands, guitarist and singer extraordinaire Steve Hill has no limits. Anything goes. He is the true exponent of aone-man band. Steve performs standing up while singing and playing
guitar, his feet playing bass drum, snare drum, hi-hats and with a drum stick fused to the head of his trusty guitar, any other percussion within reach.
Steve’s an overnight sensation that’s 20 years in the making. He’s an ambitious and raucous force to be reckoned with on the Canadian and international blues-rock scene. Now, he’s ready to break out
internationally.

Following the success of his JUNO nominated Solo Recordings Volume 1, which also won “Album of The Year” at the InternationalBlues Challenge in 2013, and JUNO Award winner Solo Recordings
Volume 2, Steve Hill first released his brand new album Solo Recordings Volume 3 in Canada on March 4, 2016.

Now, a year later, the album will finally be released domestically in the UK on Friday 6th
October 2017. One Man Blues Rock Band features originals that are outright rockers (Damned, Dangerous, Rhythm All Over, The Ballad of Jonny Wabo, Still Got It Bad to more acoustic-based melodic tracks (Emily) and three re-imagined and rearranged covers (Voodoo Child). The live album shows an artist at the top of his game.

It comes to no surprise why the Montreal Gazette has referred to Steve Hill as, “the meanest guitar player in Canada.”

“I wanted to capture a live album that featured all the energy of my live shows,” says Steve. There are no overdubs on this live album… I play everything myself in real time. There are no tapes or loops. What you hear is what you get.”

In January 2015, Steve was awarded four coveted Maple Blues Awards including Electric Act of the Year, Guitarist of the Year, Recording/Producer of the Year and Entertainer of the Year. Solo Recordings Volume 2 won the 2015 JUNO Award for Blues Album of the Year. Throughout his career, Steve has shared the stage with many of his musical heroes including Ray Charles, BB King, ZZ Top, Jimmie Vaughan, Hubert Sumlin, Jeff Beck and many others. Over the course of nine albums he’s explored everything from hard rock, country, and stoner rock to folk music while always incorporating the essence of his first love, the blues.

Steve’s reputation as an exciting performer has provided him the opportunity to showcase his talents at some of Canada’s biggest music festivals including the Montreal Jazz Festival, Ottawa Bluesfest, Jazz Winnipeg Festival, Saskatchewan Jazz Festival, Kitchener Blues Festival and more. Steve Hill is clearly in his element as a solo artist and one-man band, inviting listeners into a world of musical madness in the form of blues and rock ‘n’ roll.

About Matt Hoyles.

Gritty guitar, wailing harmonica, mad foot percussion and wickedly expressive vocals combine to create a unique rootsy sound that will get you stomping your feet and clapping your hands like there’s no tomorrow!

Hoyles is a compelling entertainer who leaves it all on stage! His musicianship as a guitarist is original, mesmerising and an unforgettable experience. Matt's debut album TIME was released in spring 2018 to a sold out crowd at Vancouver’s legendary Railway Club; and as Vancouver’s Permanent Rain Press states "Hoyles proves he can pack a lot into one song, let alone a whole album with Time, his passionate, gritty voice and unconventional mish-mash of blues and other elements making for a vibrant and soulful album”.
